概要： The pursuit of medical treatment abroad has often been limited by dissuasive distances and barriers that require travelers with health conditions to tolerate long hours in transit uncomfortably. However, given the growing popularity of medical tourism, more international transport operators are seeking to cater to passengers with ill-health and embodied impairments. This talk draws on material from a study of the transport of Indonesian medical tourists to Malaysia in order to examine how both transport operators and medical tourists adapt transport spaces and services to make travelling more accessible and comfortable for people with differently-abled bodies.

報告者紹介： Dr. Meghann Ormond is Assistant Professor in Cultural Geography at Wageningen University, The Netherlands. Her research centers on transnational mobility, health and care. She is currently developing projects on medical tourism and retirement migration. She is the author of *Neoliberal Governance and International Medical Travel in Malaysia* (2013, Routledge) and several articles and book chapters.

補足： 報告者はマレーシアでフィールド調査をして、メディカルツーリズムに関する博士論文を執筆。それをもとに*Neoliberal Governance
and International Medical Travel in Malaysia* (2013, Routledge)
を昨年度に出版している。７月４日から２１日まで招へい研究員として立教大学を訪問中に、日本のマレーシア研究者との交流を深めたいという意向があり、今回のセミナーが企画された。また、７月１８
−１９日に立教大学観光学部主催で開催される国際シンポジウム「アジア諸国における医療ツーリズム：現状とその課題」 http://www.value-press.com/pressrelease/127163 に発表者として参加予定。
